Jake and Katrina’s story is so stinking sweet. I have a place in my heart for High School Sweethearts, since my husband and I have been together since 10th grade. They met in high school… Then they started dating when she was a junior, and he was a senior. He was so nervous to ask her out, so she text him first. The rest was history!
Jake and Katrina are avid hunters, so on October 1st 2016, (The first day of archery season) Jake popped the question in a tree stand in the middle of the woods. Its been a tradition of Katrina’s to go with her brother and her dad since she was very little. So this was an incredibly perfect way to ask her!
Katrina and Jake are so in love, and care so much about the people in their lives. There were many tears that day through the evening. It was so hard to not cry myself actually. I love when couples are so over the moon in love with each other. It is so obvious in their photos.
The day started at her sisters house in the middle of the woods. All of the girls got ready there. It was so lovely out there. The house had plenty of windows to let in beautiful light. It made for gorgeous photos. Katrina’s mother sewed on part of her own veil to Katrina’s veil. Those little touches make so many wonderful memories. There was so much love in that house that morning.
Meanwhile the guys all met up at the hunt club. Beer, guns, and pocket knives were exchanged. Sounds like a hunt club right? It took them a little while to figure out how to pin the boutonnieres, but they eventually figured it out!
The ceremony overlooked a field with horses, and the seating was bails of hay. All of the detail that went into everything was just gorgeous. They really lucked out with the weather too. It was perfectly overcast the whole ceremony, which made for nice even lighting. During the ceremony, they did the coolest thing. Instead of a unity candle, or sand ceremony, they added soil and water from their own homesteads into a new tree to plant at their new home together. This symbolized them putting down their roots together. How cool is that?
After the ceremony we took all of the family portraits, and then the bride and groom portraits. We walked the perimeter of the property and found some really cool spots. After we wrapped that up, we headed for the reception hall. Their entrances were great, and the toasts were even better. Seriously, almost cried a couple of times there too. The dance floor was busy all night, and everyone had a fantastic time. The rain held off most of the night. It only sprinkled long enough to be good luck!
Jake and Katrina, no one deserves happiness more than you two. You can clearly see how committed you two are to each other. I am so thrilled I was able to be part of your day, and keep these memories for you. I wish you two a lifetime of happiness and bliss. Xx
