It was an absolutely beautiful crisp fall day last Saturday. We had just enough rain for good luck on Christian and Rachel’s wedding day! We had an almost identical day for their engagement shoot last year. You can check out the photos from their session, and read all about the couple HERE!
We arrived at the girls room at the Hilton while they relaxed and had finishing touches put on their hair and makeup. We decided to wait to photograph all of the details, dress, and flowers until we arrived at the barn. I am so glad we did! It all tied together so beautifully.
We arrived at the barn, one of my favorite venues to shoot! Sadly this is my last wedding this year, and they will be putting it to sleep for the winter months. Rachel was so relaxed all day, and didn’t let anything stress her out. Once she was finished getting ready, Rachel and Christian shared a moment to read each others vows behind the barn doors without seeing one another. We lucked out with the overcast weather, and the lighting was perfect! They shared such a sweet moment.
We waited about 20 minutes for the rain to clear, before the ceremony started. It was so moving to have a physical symbol of Christians dad at the front of the altar while he was with us in spirit. They said their I Dos, shared their first kiss, and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife. One of my favorite parts of every wedding day!
We did bridal party photos, and then portraits of the bride and groom on the grounds of the barn. The leaves were beautiful, and the creek was flowing so fast due to all of the recent rainstorms. Christian and Rachel were naturals for their portraits since we had the chance to get to know each other at their engagement session. This is why I include engagement sessions in my packages. It is really important to me that portrait time goes well!
The barn was so welcoming and warm with the heaters running. When they made their grand entrance, everyone was thrilled to see them walk in. After toasts, the blessing, and an incredible meal from Brody’s Chophouse, they cut their beautiful cake. It was decorated to be a birch tree. Cherri’s Cakes and Cruffles always does a fantastic job!
They shared their first dance, and welcomed their parents to the dance floor for the mother son dance, and father daughter dance. Another one of my favorite parts of a wedding day! Their parents still looked down at Rachel and Christian as if they were 5 years old again, and I can’t help but think of my own daughters getting married someday.
After some amazing moves on the dance floor, including the bride and groom! We took one last picture in the entrance of the barn doors. I love a good silhouette! We said our goodbyes at the end of the evening, and I said good bye to the barn until next year!
Christian and Rachel, I want to say thank you again for letting me shoot your engagement session, and your wedding day. I have loved getting to know you, and I am so glad the two of you have found happiness together!
