The weather forecast was calling for 8-10 inches of snow, and I was already thinking about how to photograph these two in that kind of storm! Luckily, we only got about an inch of snow, and many more in rain this past Saturday. John and Leslie had such a gorgeous day for their wedding. It snowed juuuust enough to make for some really cool portraits.
John and Leslie were so relaxed on their wedding day. I absolutely loved the way these two interacted! They laughed a lot, and didn’t take anything too serious.
We started the day at Grace United Methodist Church. I photographed the flowers, and all of the beautiful details. After that, we began to get Leslie dressed and ready for their first look. I spent a little bit of time with John and his groomsman, and set him up for the big moment! He waited in the courtyard of the church surrounded by the beautiful snowy backdrop, as Leslie headed towards him to call his name. He turned around, and had the biggest smile on his face! I love first looks so much! After that huge weight was off of both of their shoulders, they shared a few moments together, and then we started with the portraits of the two of them. It was pretty chilly out there, so we kept taking 15 minute breaks inside to warm up and regroup. After that, we took a few photos with the bride and groom, and their Maid of Honor, and Best Man. The snow REALLY started blowing at this point, and turned out to be perfect timing to head inside and wait for the ceremony!
If you have never been inside of this church, you really should see it. It is absolutely breathtaking. I made sure to get a few wide angle shots to showcase the beauty of it! They had a lovely ceremony, exchanged vows, and shared their first kiss as husband and wife! After we took their family formal photos after the ceremony, we headed off to the reception. At this point, it was sleeting/raining pretty hard! This weather is crazy here…
We walked into the Rustic Lodge for their reception. They had cookies from wall to wall, and they were so dang cute too! Each table had red roses and candles. I absolutely loved the colors for this wedding! After the grand entrance, they cut their cake, shared their first dance, and then danced with their parents. After a delicious dinner and some fun dancing, it was time for the bridal dance! Exhausting I’m sure for the bride and groom, but SO much fun to watch them interact with all of their guests. I just love this tradition!
We snuck outside for one last portrait of the night. The front of the building has a really pretty lamp we decided to use to our advantage, and snapped the last few photos! After that, we said our goodbyes.
John and Leslie, you guys are absolutely perfect, and compliment each other so well. Your happy, laid back attitudes were so refreshing for me. I just loved working with you two! I am so honored to have been able to document this day for you. I wish you many years of happiness together. <3
